About 100 HR and Compliance professionals attended the inaugural event on “Recruitment Strategies for OFCCP Compliance’ in Waltham, MA on September 11. The event was designed to update the attendees about the new regulations just announced by the OFCCP, as well as to engage in a broad discussion covering topics on the regulations, outreach, applicant management as well as documentation needs. Speakers included Mandi Costa, Assistant District Director, U.S. Department of Labor OFCCP office, representatives from public agencies like Massachusetts Rehabilitation Commission, Massachusetts Council of Diversity, and New England Center for Homeless Veterans. Also present was the recruitment business specialist from The Career Place, Massachusetts one-stop Career Center.
An item of great interest was the stories of compliance strategies and resources related in a panel forum by employers large and small that resulted in a lively Q&A session at the end of the seminar. Seminar attendees were particularly interested in learning and understanding fully the methods of evaluation employed by the OFCCP. There was also keen interest in the recently announced regulations , regarding veteran and disability hiring by federal contractors. Matthew Camardella, Esq., of Jackson Lewis LLP, elaborated on these new compliance regulations and what it means for employers with federal contracts. Misty Lorioso, Senior Consultant, Berkshire Associates, presented on best practices for applicant management flow for OFCCP compliance. Our very own Rathin Sinha, Founder and President, AJE, walked everyone through the 10-step comprehensive Internet outreach program and data analysis capabilities for OFCCP compliance of AJE.
This first annual seminar hosted by AJE was very well received and was a great way to open up dialogue among stakeholders and key players in the Metro Boston area.
